Sun Kai (formerly known as Sun Yuanqin), born in 1962 in Shandong Province, Linyi City, graduated successively from the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts and the Chinese Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. In 1998, he entered the Advanced Research Class of the Ministry of Culture of China for further study. He is currently a member of the China Artists Association, a member of the Presidium, Standing Committee member, and Deputy Secretary-General of the China Academy of Fine Brush Painting, as well as a member of its Expert Art Committee. He is also a council member of the China Annual of Painting and Calligraphy, a council member of the China Association of Craft Artists, a National First-Class Artist, Director of the China Color-Ink Art Research Institute, Chief Editor of the magazine "Great Artists" and the newspaper "China Color-Ink Art," Chief Planner of the First China Color-Ink Art Masters Invitational Exhibition, and Chief Editor of the "Collection of Works from the First China Color-Ink Art Masters Invitational Exhibition." His works have participated in national and military art exhibitions, winning one gold award, three silver awards, one bronze award, and six outstanding work awards. He has published two collections of figure paintings, two collections of flower-and-bird paintings, and three collections of landscape paintings. His biography and works have been repeatedly published in newspapers and journals such as China Art Newspaper, China Literature and Art Newspaper, China Painting and Calligraphy Newspaper, Art, Great Artists, China Color-Ink Art Newspaper, and Xizhi Painting and Calligraphy Newspaper. His works have been exhibited in Southeast Asia, Europe, Africa, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and throughout mainland China, and are collected by major national-level art museums.
