 Niu Xin Hai, alias: Gu Qi Yu Weng, Qing Cao Tang Zhu. Art name: Xin Hai. Born in 1952 in Tugudui Village, Zhai Li Town, Zichuan District, Zibo City, Shandong Province. Passionate about calligraphy and especially seal carving since childhood, he has walked the path of seal carving art for nearly fifty years. He has completed series such as “One Hundred Blessings,” “One Hundred Prosperities,” “One Hundred Longevities,” “One Hundred Joys,” “One Hundred Dragons,” “One Hundred Horses,” “One Hundred Tigers,” “One Hundred Phoenixes,” and “Thousand Longevities of China.” Starting from 2010, he began carving the “Ten Thousand Longevities of China,” and has completed nearly five thousand seals to date. These seals have been compiled into scrolls fifty meters long, as well as works sized three chi, four chi, eight chi, etc., presenting a magnificent spectacle, highly praised by many friends. In 2010, he won the gold award for seal carving at the “Charming China National Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition.” In 2011, he received the title of “One Hundred Outstanding Calligraphers in China.” In 2012, he won the gold award for seal carving at the Second “Contemporary Xi Zhi Award,” and was honored with the title of “Outstanding Seal Carver of the 21st Century.” In 2013, he received the first prize for seal carving at the “Tengwang Pavilion Cup” Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition. Many of his works have been collected by friends both domestically and internationally. In 2014, he was awarded the gold prize at the Fifth Cross-Strait Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Art Exchange Exhibition and conferred the honorary title of “People’s Meritorious Calligrapher and Painter.” In January 2014, he was appointed by the World Peace Federation as “Ambassador of World Public Welfare, Culture, Art, Peace and Harmony.” In May 2016, the “Blessing, Prosperity, Longevity, and Joy” scroll was collected by Korea’s [Benyuan Jing Temple]. In August 2016, a Thai prince collected the “Thousand Longevities of China” scroll. Many of his works have been collected by friends both domestically and internationally.
