Liu Huicheng (Huicheng). Pen name: Mingrui. Alias: Dongfang.
      Born in May 1963 in Xuecheng District, Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province (formerly known as Lincheng), he is a world-renowned hard-pen calligrapher and painting artist, National First-Class Artist and National First-Class Calligrapher. Graduated in January 1997 from Zaozhuang Adult Art Secondary School, Shandong Province, and in 2008 from the Economic Management College of the Central Party School.
      Comrade Liu Huicheng is self-taught, innovative, and relentlessly strives for progress, pursuing the artistic styles of ancient masters. He excels in hard-pen calligraphy, landscape, figure, and carbon pencil painting, and has conducted meticulous research in regular script, clerical script, and seal carving, with an artistic style that is bold, vigorous, and rustic.

      He has been successively awarded titles by international art organizations such as “World Hard-Pen Calligrapher,” “Chinese and Foreign Calligraphy and Painting Connoisseur,” “Contemporary Hard-Pen Calligrapher,” “Shandong Hard-Pen Calligrapher,” “International Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Artist,” “World Senior Hard-Pen Calligrapher,” “International Silver Award Artist,” “World Outstanding Artist,” “Contemporary Calligraphy and Painting Celebrity,” “International Calligraphy, Painting and Seal Carving Celebrity,” “World Hard-Pen Calligraphy Celebrity,” “World Calligraphy and Painting Celebrity,” and “World Art Celebrity.”
      Liu Huicheng’s calligraphy works won second prize and bronze award in the “Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Founding of the Army” and “Hong Kong’s Return to the Motherland 10th Anniversary” Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Competition held by the Beijing Bimoyuan Cultural Exchange Center on August 20, 2007. His works were included in the “Commemorative Collection of Calligraphy and Painting for the 80th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army” and the “Commemorative Collection of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting for the 10th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s Return to the Motherland,” and he was awarded the honorary titles of “Chinese Patriotic Artist” and “Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Artist,” along with one medal each.
      On August 8, 2008, his calligraphy won third prize and bronze award in the “Celebrating the Beijing Olympics National Calligraphy and Painting Joint Exhibition” and the “Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-Up Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Competition” co-organized by seven institutions including Beijing Senior University. His works were included in the “Celebrating the 2008 Beijing Olympics National Calligraphy and Painting Collection” and the “Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-Up Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Art Collection.” He was simultaneously awarded the honorary title of “Chinese Artist with Outstanding Virtue and Artistic Talent.” In addition, at the “Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-Up Chinese Art Masters” competition organized by the China National Studies Society, he was awarded the “National Studies Art Category (Calligraphy and Painting) Gold Award.” His calligraphy and painting works were included in the “Chinese Literature and Art 30th Anniversary Artists’ Collection.” He was also awarded the honorary title of “Expert with Special Contribution to the Prosperity and Development of Chinese Literature and Art over 30 Years,” along with one gold medal commemorating the 30th anniversary of reform and opening-up, one gold plaque, one silver plaque, and one golden statue of Confucius.
      During the large-scale theme event “Universal Celebration—Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Republic” held in Beijing, he was awarded the title of “Outstanding Contributor to the Construction of the Republic for 60 Years,” along with one “Dragon Soaring in Prosperous Times” trophy, one banner, and one medal.
      In October 2009, he won the “Gold Award” at the “Golden Radiance Cup—60 Years of Republic Literature and Art” organized by the International Sinology Research Association and was awarded the honorary title of “Republic Art Trendsetter.” In December, he won the “Special Achievement Gold Award” at the first “Chinese Traditional Culture Heritage Award” organized by the China National Studies Society.
      At the large-scale artistic tribute event “Focus on the Expo—I Cheer for the Expo” held during the Shanghai World Expo, he was awarded the honorary title of “Expo China Tribute Art Master,” along with one honorary plaque and one model of the “Oriental Crown”—China Pavilion of the Expo.
      At the “Meet the Expo—China Calligraphy and Painting Art Promotion Award” event held in Beijing, he was specially awarded the “China Art Promotion Award—Lifetime Achievement Award” and the honorary title of “Master-Level Figure in Chinese Calligraphy and Painting,” along with one jade award plaque.
      His aphorisms were published in the book “Chinese Celebrity Aphorisms” edited by the China Celebrity Culture Research Association, along with one award plaque.
      At the “Monument of the Earth—Chinese Hundred Industries Era Model Figures Symposium” held in Beijing, he received one “Chinese Seal,” one “Republic Model” medal, one award plaque, and one certificate. The banner reads: “Backbone of the Nation, Pioneer of the Era, Pride of the Motherland, Rooted in the Grassroots, Devoted to Society, Exemplary Role Model.” His calligraphy was included in “Chinese Calligraphy and Painting: Ten Years (2000-2010).” He was also awarded the “Creation Category Gold Award” and the “New Century Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Ten-Year Highest Personal Art Achievement Gold Award,” along with one gold award plaque. At the “China Pride Star—Republic Contribution Talent Celebration” hosted by the Central Nationalities Television and China Grassroots Party Building Network, he was awarded the honorary title of “China Pride Star,” receiving one banner, one award plaque, three medals, one honorary certificate, and a horizontal scroll reading “The Republic Will Not Forget.” He served as Art Consultant for the “2010 China Art Annual Figure Award Ceremony,” receiving the “2010 China Art Annual Figure” trophy, gold medal, award plaque, and medal.
      In 2011, he was selected by the China Contemporary Art Association as “2011 China Legendary Figure.”
      In March 2011, he was awarded the honorable title of “Contemporary Model of the Liu Clan” by the China Popular Culture Research Association and the Editorial Committee of “Biographies of Famous Chinese Surnames,” and included in the Liu Clan Volume along with a certificate.
      In 2012, he was jointly awarded the highest annual honor “2012 China Art—Figure of the Era” by the China Art Society and Beijing Yilian Poetry Academy. He was also awarded the honorary title of “2012 Touching China Outstanding Cultural Heritage Bearer” and certificate by Beijing Cultural Figures Magazine and the Touching Chinese Culture Figures Selection Committee.
      In 2013, at the “Influencing China, Touching the World” event hosted by the World Federation of Artists and Writers in Beijing, he was awarded the title of “2013 Touching the World Annual Figure,” receiving a certificate of election and one gold medal. His biography and works were included in the “Influencing China, Touching the World” compendium.
      In 2013, at the “Flying Dragon Across the World·Dreaming the Chinese Dream” event jointly organized by the China Culture Society, Cultural Figures Magazine, and Aerospace Cultural Exchange Center, he was awarded the honorary title of “China Art Flying Dragon Award Outstanding Contributor.”
      In 2014, at the “Republic Art Masters” National Gift Collection jointly organized by Art Masters Magazine, China Calligraphy and Painting Masters Research Association, and Hanmo Yipintang Calligraphy and Painting Academy, he received certificates for “China National Gift Artist” and “Republic Artist,” along with one “National Gift Artist” certification.
      On September 28, 2014, his calligraphy was exhibited at the city-wide “Celebrating National Day·Sunset Glow” Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition jointly organized by the Tengzhou Municipal Committee for Retired Cadres, Office of the Aging Commission, and Chinese Painting Research Institute, and he received an honorary certificate.
      In 2014, at the “Peace Ode” event jointly organized by the China Culture Society, World Peace Promotion Association, World Chinese Poetry Association, and Beijing Shengshi Tianhui Cultural Institution, his work won the Second China Culture Peace Award Gold Medal. He was specially awarded the honorary titles of “World Peace Art Master” and “Cover Figure,” and appointed Deputy Honorary Editor-in-Chief.
      In 2014, at the “2014·China-UK Art Exchange Ambassador” event jointly organized by the World Federation of Artists and Writers and the British Royal Academy of Arts, he was elected “2014·China-UK Art Exchange Ambassador” and awarded the honorary title of “World Cultural Celebrity.” His biography was included in the “Dictionary of World Cultural Celebrities.”
      In 2014, he was included in the monumental publication “Great Dictionary of Chinese Traditional Cultural Masters” compiled jointly by the Chinese Traditional Culture Research Association and the Chinese Traditional Culture Development Foundation, under the title “Cultural Master,” and specially awarded the honorable title of “Outstanding Cultural Master for the Revival of China!”
      In November 2014, at the 40th Anniversary Celebration of China-Thailand Diplomatic Relations and the Commendation Ceremony for Overseas Chinese Who Promoted Chinese Civilization Globally, he received one gold medal titled “China-Thailand·Family Affection·China-Thailand Friendship Ambassador” and an honorary certificate and medal titled “Overseas Chinese with Meritorious Contribution to Promoting Chinese Civilization Globally.”
