Personal Profile

Xu Mingyu, male, born in December 1956 in Qingdao City, Shandong Province, Han ethnicity, currently resides in Beijing, senior arts and crafts artist. In 1985, he studied decorative painting at the Central Academy of Arts and Design (now part of Tsinghua University Academy of Arts & Design). From 2007 to 2008, he attended the advanced research class under tutor Du Dakai at the China National Academy of Painting. From 2011 to 2012, he studied in the first session of the International Calligraphers Society’s Contemporary Art Advanced Research Class. He is currently an artist of the International Calligraphic Image Society, member of the China Industrial Design Association, member of the Shandong Branch of the China Artists Association, member of the Shandong Calligraphers Association, researcher at the China Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, researcher at the Huaxia Jingdu Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, standing director of the Shandong Calligraphy and Engraving Artists Association, and vice chairman of the Qingdao Painting, Calligraphy and Engraving Artists Association.
