Chen Yongzhong, artistic name Han Qing, styled “Tai Shan,” was born in 1959 in Weishan County, Shandong Province. Since childhood, he has been fond of painting and calligraphy, diligently practicing traditional Chinese painting—including landscapes, figures, flowers and birds—as well as calligraphy. He is a doctoral supervisor at Oxford College of Art, director of the National Gift Calligraphy and Painting Studio, member of the Calligraphy and Painting Art Committee of China’s Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Alliance, listed artist on China Contemporary Famous Calligraphers and Painters Network, contemporary master artist at Tsinghua University Academy of Arts, graduate of the Correspondence University of China, Department of Fine Arts, and advanced researcher at Tsinghua University Academy of Arts. He serves as standing director of the International China-Japan-Korea-New Alliance, National First-Class Artist, director of the International Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Association, director of the China National Association, director of the People’s Artist Association, Beijing Huaxia Guoyi Calligraphy and Painting Academy, director of Qinhuangdao Longteng Calligraphy and Painting Academy, member of the Organizing Committee of the “Ode to China” National Calligraphy and Painting Competition, and member of the municipal and provincial fine arts associations in Shandong.
      His works feature a bright, refreshing tone, elegant yet accessible style, and have repeatedly received high praise from art experts. Over the years, he has exhibited nationwide and won numerous awards in national calligraphy and painting competitions. His work won the Gold Prize in the National Calligraphy and Painting Competition commemorating the 30th anniversary of China’s Reform and Opening-up; his piece “Bamboo Sea Spring Tide” was included in the “Collection of Works by Contemporary Chinese Artists and Calligraphers”; his painting “Sail Silhouette” won the Gold Prize at the Beijing Olympic Games Calligraphers and Painters Auction; his ink painting received the Excellence Award at the 4th China Ru Palace Porcelain Cup Calligraphy and Painting Competition. His collections “Spring Blossoms and Autumn Fruits,” “Ink Tsinghua,” “Chinese Painters,” and “Outstanding Chinese Calligraphers and Painters” were distributed during the National People’s Congress sessions and published by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. “Fine Collection of National Masters’ Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition” commemorates the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the 85th anniversary of the establishment of the Palace Museum, and the 590th anniversary of the completion of the Forbidden City; the “2010 Palace Museum Mid-Autumn Reception” collection was published and distributed by the China Artists Association and China Calligraphers Association. His work “Glowing Waterfall” was published by the Shenzhou Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Newspaper and recognized as one of the “Five Outstanding Masters of Chinese Landscape Painting.” His works commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution were exhibited and collected at the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Hall. His works have been exhibited in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Taiwan; his painting “Soul of China” was collected by Bangkok Mayor Sukhumbhand Paribatra. His works have been exhibited internationally and collected nationwide through the China Business Times and commemorative Chinese postage albums. He was selected among the top 300 nationwide at the 7th Contemporary Landscape Painting Exhibition. His works featured in the Cross-Strait Collection were published and distributed nationwide and simultaneously collected by the Henan Provincial Art Museum. For many years, his works have been published annually by the People’s Artist Association in “Contemporary Chinese Art Masters” and “365 Chinese Calligraphers and Painters.”
