       Mr. Ren Weiguo, styled Wentong, and known as the Hermit of Shanting. Born in Shandong Zaozhuang, he successively studied at Qingdao Chinese Painting University, Shijiazhuang College of Humanities and Arts, and the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University. He studied under renowned Chinese landscape painter Hong Chao, celebrated pomegranate painter Gu Chenghai, and distinguished bird-and-flower painter Professor Li Zhigang, among other scholars.        Currently, he is a senior research student in painting and calligraphy creation at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University; an invited artist of the Sydney Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Network, Australia; Deputy Director of the Art Department at China Ministry of Culture’s Cultural Industry Planning Network; Council Member and Member of the China-New Zealand Cultural and Art Promotion Association; Honorary Principal of Jining Guoxuetang; Painter at the China Shanhe Academy of Painting and Calligraphy in Beijing; and Member of the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Research Association. He has been awarded titles such as “Huabiao Artist,” “Artist of Both Virtue and Talent,” and “Contemporary Chinese Artist of Outstanding Ability.”        For many years, he has traveled and created artworks across China’s famous mountains and rivers and various art academies, producing a large volume of outstanding paintings and calligraphic works. He has frequently participated in national-level painting and calligraphy competitions and won numerous awards. Mr. Ren is a versatile artist skilled in calligraphy, Chinese and Western painting, and seal carving, particularly excelling in bird-and-flower, landscape, and fan-surface painting. His works have been included in authoritative publications such as “Treasured Appreciation of Mo Lin,” “Record of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Masters of the Century,” “Panorama of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Masters,” “Chinese Painters and Calligraphers,” and “Morning Wind of the Ink Sea.” He has published works including “Contemporary Chinese Masters of Painting and Calligraphy – Postal Album,” “Safety Warning Comic Series,” and “Self-Commentary Sketch Collection.” A large number of his works have been collected by national leaders, foreign friends, entrepreneurs, art galleries, temples, and Taoist monasteries.
