 Han Shijun, artistic name: Zi Zhen, was born in January 1939 in Tengzhou, Shandong, into a revolutionary family where both parents joined the Communist Party in 1946. He is a senior economist and a member of the Communist Party of China. He has served as company commander, battalion commander, and deputy regiment commander in the Corps, and as deputy secretary and deputy director locally. He has been honored as an outstanding Communist Party member and advanced worker. In 2018, he was awarded the titles “Chinese Art Masters on World Stamps” and “World Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Masters” in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Kenedistrict Branch of the World Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Association.He has loved calligraphy since childhood and has continued studying it since retirement. His calligraphy is rooted in classical models, inheriting tradition while constantly drawing nourishment and essence from the masterpieces of Wang Xizhi, Wang Xianzhi, Yan Zhenqing, Zhao Mengfu, Chu Suiliang, and other great masters. He absorbs strengths from many sources, developing a unique style that is upright, elegant, refined, and graceful. Through decades of calligraphic practice, he respects ancient traditions while valuing contemporary innovations; whenever encountering excellent works by ancient or modern calligraphers, he repeatedly copies them, emulating the virtuous and learning from others’ strengths to compensate for his own weaknesses.
