 Li Haijiang, styled "Qu Ling Hermit," male, Han ethnicity, native of Dongming County, Shandong Province, born in January 1955, holds a college diploma and is a member of the Communist Party of China. He is currently a retired official at bureau-chief level from the Economic Development Bureau of Qujialing Administrative District, Jingmen City, Hubei Province. Since childhood, he has been passionately fond of traditional Chinese painting. From the time he started working until his retirement, he devoted himself to the study and creation of traditional Chinese painting as an amateur. He has attended numerous calligraphy and painting training courses organized by provincial and municipal authorities. After retirement, he turned to professional artistic study and creation. To date, he has participated in many national-level calligraphy and painting competitions and won multiple awards. In 2015, his work was selected for the 8th China Chongyang Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition. He won the Gold Award in the National Middle-aged and Senior Artists’ Competition “Great Journey · Odes to the Communist Party” in celebration of the Party’s 95th anniversary. He also received the Gold Award in the National Middle-aged and Senior Artists’ Competition commemorating the 70th Anniversary of China’s Victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. In the national competition commemorating the 80th anniversary of Chairman Mao Zedong’s poem “Seven-Character Verse: The Long March,” he was awarded the Gold Prize and honored with the title “Inheritor of Outstanding Chinese National Culture.” In 2016, he won First Prize in the 7th “Xizhi Cup” National Calligraphy and Painting Invitational, and the Grand Prize in the National Annual Conference of Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Creators. At the 2016 National Annual Conference of Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Creators, his work was rated as Grand Prize winner. He also received the Gold Award in the “Golden Sunset” First National Exhibition of Senior Calligraphy and Painting Masters. He is currently a member of the China Hard Pen Calligraphy Association, a certified calligrapher-painter by the China Academy for Heritage Protection, Vice President of the Academy’s National Culture Painting and Calligraphy Institute, a researcher at the China Huaxia Ten-Thousand-Mile Calligraphers and Painters Association, a contracted painter for “Xizhi Calligraphy and Painting Newspaper: Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting,” a committee member of the Traditional Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Art Research Institute, appointed Vice President of the Artist Committee by China Poetry-Calligraphy-Painting Artists Network, and recognized as a Senior Calligrapher-Painter. He was elected as a “Cultural Pioneer of the New Era, Glorious China 2017,” and appointed as a special painter by China Calligraphy and Painting World Tour. Based on his outstanding performance in national competitions in recent years and his broad influence in the calligraphy and painting community, he was jointly recommended and comprehensively evaluated by multiple domestic and overseas art institutions, including the Beijing Jun Tian Calligraphy and Painting Academy and the Hong Kong Hanmo Huaxia Calligraphy and Painting Art Association, and honored as a “Contemporary Outstanding Master of Calligraphy and Painting.”
    His award-winning works have been published in the National Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Masterpieces Collection; Mao Zedong’s Poems: Collection of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Masters; Great Journey: Collection of National Middle-aged and Senior Artists’ Works Celebrating the 95th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China; and the Guandi Cup National Competition Collection, all distributed nationwide. His work “Auspiciousness and Good Fortune” is collected by the China Academy for Heritage Protection; “Majestic Mountains and Endless Rivers” is collected by Mr. Xi Yuanping, younger brother of President Xi Jinping; and “Lofty Mountains and Long-flowing Waters” is collected by Mr. Zhou Shijun, President of the Beijing Mingjia Shihua Calligraphy and Painting Academy.
