 Yan Tingqiang, Dharma name: Guanwu,styled Xingjian, also known as “Yellow River Jiaozi,” and alternatively referred to as “Master of Xingjian Garden,”third-generation inheritor of Qi Baishi’s artistic lineage. Born in July 1975 in Zouping County, Shandong Province. Currently a member of the China Calligraphers and Painters Association, and rated as a First-Class Fine Artist by the China Calligraphy and Painting Title & Price Evaluation Center. His works are valued at RMB 3,000–8,000 per square chi in the domestic market, and USD 1,000–1,500 per square chi in the international market. Certificate No. [03036].Began studying traditional Chinese painting at age 7. At age 13, became an apprentice under Ma Enyuan, an inner disciple of Mr. Wang Tianchi, former director of the Shandong Provincial Academy of Traditional Chinese Painting, and commenced learning the Qi School painting style. Under close personal instruction, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to painting for over thirty years and has since gained modest mastery. Specializes in painting fish, frogs, shrimp, crabs, plum blossoms, orchids, bamboo, and chrysanthemums. “Adhere to tradition, study ancient texts, seek guidance from masters” — this is my personal motto. Currently a member of the Dongying City Artists Association in Shandong Province.In spring 2014, participated in CCTV’s Calligraphy and Painting Competition; his work “Group of Shrimp” won an Excellence Award and was broadcast multiple times on the “Calligraphy and Painting Channel.”In June 2016, during activities celebrating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Red Army’s Long March victory, his work won the Gold Prize in the 4th “China Dream Cup” National Calligraphy and Painting Competition, and he was awarded the honorary title of “Outstanding Artist of the Chinese Dream.”
