Personal Profile
Mu Yaqing, originally named Mu Tiecheng, is from Pingdu City, Shandong Province, and currently resides in Beijing. She graduated from Inner Mongolia Agricultural University and studied painting techniques under masters such as Zhang Zhong and Qin Lingyun. Currently, she holds the title of National First-Class Artist, serves as an Academic Committee Member of the China Art Industry Professional Committee, a Council Member of the Traditional Culture Research Association of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce for Folk Cultural Relics and Artworks, a Researcher at the Chinese Ink Art Research Institute, and Secretary-General of the Academy of Contemporary Chinese Masters of Calligraphy and Painting. Landscape painting is the genre among the three major categories of Chinese painting that best represents traditional Chinese philosophical thought and aesthetic principles. For landscape painting, connoisseurs typically first observe the overall momentum of the composition, savoring its “spiritual resonance” or “spiritual likeness,” before examining its brushwork interest, composition, coloring, and brush strength. Only then do they assess its form, i.e., how closely it resembles reality or achieves “formal likeness.” This method of appreciating “spiritual resonance” truly captures the essence, because “spiritual resonance” represents a high-level artistic aesthetic experience, the very goal Chinese painters have long strived to attain. Achieving this goal requires prolonged practice and accumulated experience.
