He enjoys studying the styles of the Stone Gate Ode, the Two Wangs, and Zhao Mengfu. He has a particular fondness for clerical script, drawing extensively from Han dynasty clerical inscriptions, bamboo slips, and the essence of renowned clerical script masters throughout history, gradually developing his own distinctive clerical script style. In cursive script, he primarily follows the styles of Zhang Xu, Huai Su, and Zhu Yunming, especially admiring Mao Zedong’s wild cursive script, and excels in large-character calligraphy. His large-character works are grand and weighty, ancient yet elegant, free-spirited and graceful, with powerful brushstrokes and imposing momentum. His compositions are solemn and dignified, delivering strong visual impact. His large-character calligraphy has been selected by the Large-Character Calligraphy Committee of the China Society of Art for inclusion in its official website’s “Master Interviews” section; his creative process videos have been featured in the “Calligraphy Classroom” section of the same site.
