Guo Xuzhong, styled Shuzhi, is a native of Shouguang, Shandong. He is a leading figure in contemporary Chinese calligraphy in the new era, an outstanding artistic master who has made remarkable contributions during the 40 years of reform and opening-up, and a documented figure on the revival path of calligraphy and painting art over the past four decades of reform and opening-up. He is an expert listed in the National Policy Think Tank Committee of the China Industrial Cooperation Association, a contracted calligrapher with Calligraphy Space, and a nationally recognized advanced individual in writing education. He has won the national-level gold award for calligraphy instruction and has been honored with the title of “National Basic Education Star.” He serves as a director of the Shouguang Calligraphers Association, a member of the Shandong Calligraphers Association, and a member of the Chinese Hard Pen Calligraphy Association. His calligraphy follows the styles of the Two Wangs and Sun Guoting. He has studied under modern masters such as Ouyang Zhongshi, Zhang Xuguang, Yu Zhonghua, Sun Li, Cao Yuanwei, Li Guosheng, Yu Jizhong, and Li Shuangyang.
