Qiao Shiyu, female, styled Hongfeng, studio name Ruyixuan. Born in 1961 in Weifang City, Shandong Province, she developed a love for calligraphy and painting from childhood under the influence of her father. During her teenage years, she began practicing calligraphy under her father’s guidance, starting with copying Ouyang Xun’s “Jiucheng Palace Liqueur Spring Stele” and “Huadu Temple Stele,” then progressing to Yan Zhenqing’s “Duobao Pagoda Stele” and “Qinli Stele,” among others, with a particular fondness for Qin seal script. Currently, she serves as Director of the Creation Department at the China National Painting Academy. Her bird-and-flower paintings blend Chinese and Western techniques, featuring delicate brushwork, rich and elegant colors, vivid forms and spirits, and profound artistic resonance. Technically, she strives for innovation, employing bold and vibrant colors without vulgarity, integrating traditional Chinese painting with Western techniques such as perspective, chiaroscuro, and texture, thereby preliminarily establishing her own artistic style. Her works have been successfully exhibited in solo calligraphy and painting exhibitions both within and outside the province, establishing her as a distinguished female artist locally, with many pieces collected by domestic friends!
