Shi Yanshan, pen name Changshan, secular name Pang Shouhua, is from Heze, Shandong. He was tonsured and ordained in 2006, under the guidance of Master Yongxin. Life motto: Take goodness as the foundation; let kindness spread throughout the world; widely cultivate virtuous connections; enlighten others through Chan. Realize the Buddha in practice; practice while realizing the Buddha. Enjoys calligraphy, with a unique personal style. Widely praised as a contemporary Chan-inspired calligrapher. Grounded in Chan realization, disciplined in brushwork. Particularly renowned for his single-stroke “Fu” (福, meaning “blessing”) and single-stroke “Chan” (禅), both widely circulated and beloved by the public.
