Li Douluo, born on July 12, 1946, is a native of Jinxian County, Jiangxi Province. In July 2001, he was appointed Deputy Secretary of the Nanchang Municipal Committee of the CPC, Mayor and Party Secretary of the Municipal People’s Government. In March 2003, he was elected as a deputy to the 10th National People’s Congress. After resigning from his position as Director of the Standing Committee of the 13th Nanchang Municipal People’s Congress in January 2010 and obtaining organizational approval, he returned to his hometown to devote himself to the construction of new rural areas. Between 2014 and 2017, he successively received honorary titles including “Personage of Chinese Culture,” “CCTV Annual Figure in Agriculture, Rural Areas and Farmers,” “Special Contribution Figure for Loving Hometown,” and “Chinese Filial and Benevolent Figure.” Comrade Li Douluo has long been engaged in economic management, urban construction, and agricultural and rural work, possessing rich experience in administrative and economic management. He is known for his rigorous and solid work style. He advocates: “Be a person of high moral character, serve as an official with humility, and accomplish tasks with strict standards”; he believes: “Gold and silver monuments cannot compare to the praise of the common people.” He is affectionately called “The People’s Mayor” by the public. In his spare time, he is passionate about calligraphy, especially excelling in running and cursive scripts. His calligraphic works have won numerous international and domestic awards and are eagerly collected by international friends. In 1998, he was named one of China’s Top 100 Calligraphers.
