 Cui Shiquan, courtesy name Hanquan, also known as the Master of Shayuanxuan, is a native of Jinan, Shandong. He is a member of the Chinese Calligraphy Association for Large-Character Scripts, a member of the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Art Research Association, a specially appointed researcher at the Chinese Traditional Cultural Heritage Protection Research Institute, a member of the Provincial Artists Association, Vice President of the Shandong Tangren Calligraphy and Painting Academy, Director of the Shandong Qishi Calligraphy and Painting Research Institute, and Executive Vice President of the Jinan Longzhihun Calligraphy and Painting Academy in Shandong Province. He formerly served as Director of the Tianqiao Culture Bureau in Jinan, Shandong. Since childhood, he has been passionately devoted to calligraphy and painting, persistently cultivating both disciplines without interruption, deeply studying classical styles while innovating beyond them, exploring various scripts, and ultimately forming a unique style characterized by “majestic momentum, ingenious brushwork variations, marvelous ink effects, ethereal and divine expressions, dignified as a Buddha, and gracefully transcendent as an immortal.” His works have won numerous awards in provincial and municipal competitions; in 2018, he received the Grand Prize in the 2nd China Original Calligraphy and Painting Competition, and his works have been collected by multiple cultural centers. He has been honored with the title of “Public Welfare Calligrapher and Painter” by the Shandong Civil Affairs Department, Shandong Broadcasting and Television Station, and the Shandong Angel Health Alliance. Cui Shiquan’s Chinese painting artistry greatly benefited from instruction by his teacher Xie Shihong, known as the “Traveler Through Rain and Snow,” achieving substantial progress. His painting style is bold and vigorous, full of lively spirit and distinctive character, combining grandeur and majesty with delicate elegance, earning him recognition as the “Ambassador of Integrating Northern and Southern Painting Styles,” and receiving high praise from experts and collectors alike!
