 Personal Profile

Zheng Keshi, styled "Shilan Jushi," male, Han ethnicity, born in 1966, native of Heze, Shandong. Since childhood, influenced by his family environment, he practiced calligraphy and painting. He excels in regular, cursive, clerical, and seal scripts; his paintings particularly feature orchids, plum blossoms, bamboo, and chrysanthemums. He has conducted unique research into the wild cursive styles of Zhang Xu, Huai Su, and Mao Zedong, synthesizing the essence of hundreds of masters into a unified style, absorbing the strengths of dynastic traditions to form his own distinctive approach. He is skilled in poetry and couplets, knowledgeable in musical rhythm, and has invented and created China’s one-of-a-kind calligraphy-painting works featuring couplets and poems with the names of husband and wife embedded in their opening characters—integrating the traditional Chinese arts of poetry, couplets, and calligraphy into harmonious, elegant gifts ideal for weddings, housewarmings, and birthday celebrations.
Mr. Zheng Keshi has received over 200 awards in international and domestic calligraphy and painting exhibitions. Nevertheless, he remains humble and unassuming, focusing his artistic practice on drawing from ancient traditions while embracing contemporary innovations, diligently cultivating his craft, following the Dao of nature, and achieving mastery through profound accumulation and eventual brilliant expression. In 1988, he founded the China Shilan Calligraphy and Painting Academy. His works are widely collected by state party and government agencies and friends both at home and abroad, making outstanding contributions to promoting and glorifying traditional Chinese culture.
