Personal Profile
Liu Deyi, styled Cangqing, is from Qingdao City, Shandong Province, and graduated from a military academy. He is a member of the Calligraphy and Painting Academy of China Education Television, the Chinese Popular Calligraphy and Painting Art Committee, the Chinese Red Flag Calligraphy and Painting Academy, the Chinese Hard-pen Calligraphers Association, the Calligraphers Association of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the Qingdao Calligraphers Association.   Since childhood, influenced by his father’s talent in painting and calligraphy, he developed a profound interest in these arts and embarked on a lifelong journey of learning and artistic cultivation. Initially exploring traditional Chinese landscape, flower-and-bird, and figure painting, he later focused exclusively on calligraphy, diligently practicing day after day, studying various scripts and classical stele rubbings, gaining immense benefit and steadily accumulating profound experience. He deeply understands that calligraphy reflects the character and heart of its practitioner—the beauty of calligraphy is the mirror of the calligrapher’s soul. He reveres Wang Xizhi, the Sage of Calligraphy, and Huaisu, the Sage of Cursive Script, for their dual excellence in virtue and artistry, setting enduring examples for generations. In his long-term practice, he strives to express the beauty of brushwork, composition, and artistic conception in his works; to manifest the dynamic tension and release of lines and the graceful fluidity of brush momentum. Particularly in running and cursive scripts, his calligraphic style reveals the clarity of his heart and the elegance of his lines.   His works have won awards in national competitions such as the "Sanxi Cup," "Patriotism Cup," "Yellow River Cup," "Civilization Cup," "Ink Garden Collection," and "Year of the Dragon." He has published repeatedly in internal literary journals and held four solo exhibitions of calligraphy and painting. His biographical profile in hard-pen calligraphy is included in The Directory of Contemporary Chinese Hard-pen Calligraphers. His calligraphy and paintings have been recognized as works by renowned contemporary artists under the [Culture China] initiative, and reported by media outlets including China.com, China.org.cn, China News Report, Baidu Baijia, and Sohu.com, receiving commentary and acclaim from Shi Feng, a renowned CCTV art critic. He has been awarded the honorary title and medal of “Meritorious Artist of the Chinese Dream,” and comprehensively covered by media such as Sohu, Artron, Chuanshi, Phoenix, and Tencent. He was specially invited as an Art Ambassador for the 70th Anniversary of China-Russia Diplomatic Relations and awarded an honorary certificate; honored by the Chinese Popular Culture Society as a Practitioner of Chinese Cultural Revival. His calligraphy and paintings have been jointly collected by authoritative institutions including the China Collectors Association into The Great Journey: Chinese Stamp Album Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, and awarded the National Stamp Honor Certificate.
