Fang Dehua, courtesy name Monu, pseudonym Zhuxiang Xuanzhu, is from Tancheng County, Shandong. He is currently a member of the China Hard Pen Calligraphers Association, a member of the Henan branch of the China Calligraphers Association, a council member of the China International Academy of Calligraphy and Painting Arts, a member of the Writers Association of Henan Province, and vice chairman of the Tancheng County Calligraphers Association.
For decades he has been devoted to calligraphy and seal carving. Trained in his family tradition from childhood, he began studying calligraphy at age seven and started writing Spring Festival couplets for neighbors by age ten. In regular script, he follows models such as the "Zhang Menglong Stele" and the "Zheng Wengong Stele". In cursive script, he pursues the spirit and rhythm of Zhang Xu and Huai Su. His clerical script draws the balanced structure of the "Yiying Stele", the spacious elegance of the "Fenglongshan Stele", and the dynamic variation of the "Liqi Stele". Proficient in multiple script styles, he excels particularly in clerical and running scripts. His works are characterized by expansive strokes and an elegant, spirited style. His works have been selected for exhibitions including the "2nd National Clerical Script Exhibition", the "1st National Military Calligraphy and Seal Carving Exhibition", the "Outstanding Works Exhibition of Henan Calligraphers Association Members", and the "3rd National Youth Calligraphy Top 100 Fine Works Exhibition". His awards include the third prize at the 2nd National Clerical Script Exhibition, second prize in the "Zhongyuan Cup" Calligraphy Competition, bronze award in the Henan Calligraphy Longmen Award, second prize in the 1st National Military Calligraphy and Seal Carving Exhibition, and the excellence award in the "Shuyuan Xieying" competition sponsored by the magazine *Calligraphy*. His works have been included in publications such as *Selected Works from the 2nd National Clerical Script Exhibition*, *Collected Works from the 1st National Military Calligraphy and Seal Carving Exhibition*, *Selected Works of Contemporary Chinese and Japanese Renowned Calligraphers*, *Selected Outstanding Works of Henan Calligraphers Association Members*, and *Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese Young Calligraphers*.
During his military service in Henan, he was engaged in propaganda work. Later, he served in the Party Committee of Matou Town, Tancheng County. Since beginning his career in photojournalism in 1988, he has published over 7,000 news and documentary photographs (in series) through international media outlets including Xinhua News Agency, Associated Press, Reuters, Agence France-Presse, *People's Daily*, *Guangming Daily*, *Economic Daily*, *PLA Daily*, *China Daily* (English edition), and *Washington Chinese Daily*. More than 20 of his photo series have won national, provincial, and municipal journalism awards. He has been appointed as a contracted photographer or special correspondent by major news agencies such as Xinhua News Agency, *People's Daily*, China News Service, State Council Information Office, Dongfang IC, and Asia Images. He is currently a member of the China Photographers Association, a member of the China News Photography Association, vice chairman of Linyi City News Photography Association, and vice chairman of Tancheng County Photographers Association. In 2011, he was named one of Linyi's Top Ten Outstanding Youths; in 2013, he was honored as one of Xinhua News Agency's "Top Ten" contracted photographers. He is a recipient of the 3rd and 6th Linyi "Yimeng Culture & Art Awards", and in 2018 became one of the first cultural leading talents to receive a government allowance from the Linyi municipal government.
