Personal Profile

Guo Peng, born in 1968 in Linyi, Shandong Province, is a member of the Shandong Artists Association, the Shandong Calligraphers Association, the Calligraphy Education Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Education, and the Shandong News Photography Society. He is a senior secondary school art teacher and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Shandong Education College. Passionate about painting since childhood, he studied calligraphy under Wu Zhongqi and flower-and-bird painting under teachers such as Zhao Yingshui and Chen Jian. His work “Flower-and-Bird Sketch” won the Provincial Sketching and Creation Excellence Award. Specializing in flower-and-bird painting and calligraphy, his works have repeatedly won national awards, including first prize in the 1997 Linyi Calligraphy Competition commemorating Hong Kong’s return, first prize in the 2002 Shandong Provincial Calligraphy Competition, and second prize in the 2012 National Calligraphy Competition. He has never ceased practicing, establishing a solid foundation in traditional calligraphy while innovating to develop a uniquely personal style. His works are collected by numerous institutions and individuals.
