Guo Shuangxi, styled Yizhang, was born in 1963 in Zhangqiu County, Jinan City, and holds a university education. He is a member of the China Artists Association. Director of the Beijing Zhongxuan Shengshi International Calligraphy and Painting Academy. Currently serving as Director of the Shandong Provincial Calligraphers and Painters Association, Lecturer at the Confucius Academy of Chinese Painting, Director of the Jinan Chinese Culture Promotion Association, Professional Painter at the Jinling Academy of Chinese Painting, Artistic Director of the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Spring Festival Gala, Professional Painter at the Beijing Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Academy, and Honorary President of the Guangyou Calligraphy and Painting Academy in Jinan City.
Influenced by his family from an early age, he began practicing painting as a child. Driven by his deep passion for calligraphy and painting, he has worked tirelessly and diligently, continuously improving his foundational painting skills. Later, he studied under the renowned Chinese calligrapher-painter and distinguished Sinologist Master Wang Xuejiang. Under the personal instruction and guidance of Master Wang, he devoted himself to meticulously copying masterpieces by celebrated Song and Yuan dynasty landscape painters. Through extensive copying and sketching from life, his artistic vision broadened and his painting skills steadily advanced. While respecting traditional painting art, he also integrated studies and imitations of modern and contemporary masters, gradually developing his own distinctive style. His works are grand in momentum and bold in spirit, widely admired and cherished by calligraphy and painting enthusiasts both within and beyond Shandong Province. Many of his works have been collected by domestic artists and entrepreneurs, and have won awards in numerous exhibitions. In 2019, his works were featured in Qilu Wedding Magazine, Shandong’s premier media outlet for wedding culture. Meanwhile, his pyrography landscape paintings have also received widespread acclaim.
In 2017, he participated in the "Boundless Love" charity auction organized by China National Committee on Aging, donating proceeds from the auction of two paintings entirely to the China National Committee on Aging Poverty Alleviation Foundation, earning widespread praise from art experts and collectors. In 2018, he won an Excellence Award in the China Calligraphy and Painting Competition and was invited to participate in CCTV’s Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Spring Festival Gala, where he received a Gold Award. After strict review and approval by the China Mass Culture Committee and the China Post Stamp Issuance Committee, he published postage stamps and philatelic albums, honored as “National Name Cards.” He was also included in the Dictionary of Famous Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Artists. Following evaluation by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Chinese calligraphy and painting experts, he was awarded the title of “One of the Most Influential Contemporary Painters.” In 2019, he participated in the national exhibition organized by the Xi’an Academy of Painting under the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, winning a Gold Award. Recently, two of his works were selected for an international exchange exhibition organized by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, while another is currently participating in the Belt and Road Exchange Exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
