Personal Profile

Li Kai, courtesy name Yaoyu, also known as Dakai, was born beside Daming Lake, in a household nourished by spring waters. Now at the age of knowing one's destiny, he graduated in 1988 from Jinan Calligraphy and Art School, studying calligraphy and seal carving under masters Wei Qihou, Zhang Jinbai, Du Xianzhen, Han Yanyan, and Fu Jingliang. He studied ceramic engraving and ancient script under Shandong Arts & Crafts Master Mr. Fan Yuqing. Currently, he serves as Director (appointed) of the Zisha Art Committee at the School of Digital Art and Media, Shandong University of Art & Design; member of the Shandong Arts & Crafts Association; member of the Shandong Youth Calligraphers Association; and member of the Jinan Calligraphers Association. He now resides in Dingshu, Yixing, engaged in zisha engraving and painting, and has established the “Qiao Lu · Yaoyu Zisha Art Studio.”
