Chen Xiaobin, styled Yun Gui, pen name: Yisheng Suoqiu. Native of Shan County, Heze, Shandong (May 22, 1962 — ). Since childhood, he received family instruction and has devoted his life to calligraphy and painting, successively studying under masters such as Liu Bingsen, Hu Wenxu, and Xie Peizhe, gaining immense benefit. His artistic skills have steadily advanced, drawing widely from the finest traditions, through diligent study and arduous practice, gradually forming a distinctive calligraphic style characterized by natural grace, profound charm, and dynamic elegance — establishing his own unique approach. During his demanding years in the military, he practiced calligraphy using the ground as paper and water as ink, diligently studying masterpieces of historical calligraphers and immersing himself in theories of painting and calligraphy. He won numerous awards in various military calligraphy and painting competitions. His works were republished and featured by media outlets including the PLA Daily, earning him the title of “Military Calligrapher.” His exhibitions have been held in cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, receiving widespread acclaim from senior figures in the calligraphy community.
