Wang Jiuzhen: Male, born in 1955 in Linyi City, Shandong Province.Currently a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, Director of the Chinese Hard Pen Calligraphy Association, Member of the Shandong Provincial Artists Association, Member of the Shandong Provincial Calligraphers Association, Director of the Shandong Hard Pen Calligraphy Association. Mr. Wang Jiuzhen has practiced Yan-style calligraphy since childhood, exploring seal script, clerical script, running script, and cursive script, with particular devotion to Han dynasty clerical script. His clerical script is grounded in Han steles, infused with the brushwork spirit of bamboo-slip script—vigorous, lively, and uniquely structured, rich in connotation and aesthetic form, earning praise for its “powerful execution.” Renowned calligrapher Mr. Tian Yingzhang remarked that Mr. Wang Jiuzhen’s clerical script extensively employs Han-dynasty brush techniques, exuding grandeur and vitality, infusing traditional clerical script with fresh innovation—an exceedingly rare achievement in contemporary clerical calligraphy, establishing him as a leading figure in the field. Professor Sun Qifeng, a celebrated painter and calligrapher, commented: “Comrade Jiuzhen excels in calligraphic theory and particularly in clerical script. His calligraphy is mature and rigorous, rooted in Han traditions yet uniquely distinctive, drawing from his inner spirit. He learns from the ancients without being confined by them, developing his own style—a rare and precious quality.” His calligraphy has been exhibited in numerous major domestic and international exhibitions, winning gold awards three times. His clerical script work “Viewing Mount Tai” was collected by a Hong Kong resident and displayed in an office building in Hong Kong. Works such as “Preface to the Orchid Pavilion,” “Tao Te Ching,” and “Returning to Life, Flourishing Through All Seasons” have earned acclaim throughout the Qilu region. His works have also been presented as official gifts by provincial and municipal authorities to the United Nations and over twenty other countries. Mr. Wang Jiuzhen has been honored by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and other institutions with the title “Artist of Both Moral Integrity and Artistic Excellence.”
