Personal Profile
Zhang Guangqun, styled "Yun Ru Ge," is from Pingyi, Linyi, Shandong. He has loved calligraphy and painting since childhood, studied under teacher Yan Shi, and is a student of Xie Mei Pavilion. He holds a special affection for plum blossoms and bamboo. "Without enduring the bone-chilling cold, how could the plum blossom emit its fragrant scent?" He frequently consults and exchanges ideas with renowned local calligraphy and painting masters, and his works are highly appreciated by friends from all walks of life.
The plum blossom possesses an indomitable spirit, yet never displays arrogance. Every winter morning, it exudes a uniquely elegant and serene charm. Beyond its graceful and refined demeanor that has inspired poets and painters throughout history, the plum blossom is also revered for its icy, jade-like flesh and bone, and its fragrance persisting through the cold—symbolizing the spirit of the nation and cherished by the world. Its noble, resilient, and humble character inspires people to strive with determination.
In traditional Chinese culture, bamboo symbolizes the scholar’s integrity, unbending principle, and moral fortitude. Its character remains evergreen and dignified even amidst harsh frost and wind. Gracefully upright and beautiful, bamboo remains verdant through the coldest seasons and has been universally beloved since ancient times. The ancients often said, “Jade may be shattered but will not lose its whiteness; bamboo may be burned but will not lose its joints.”
