Liu Yuanjun, native of Binzhou, Shandong  Currently holds the positions of: Member of the China Calligraphers Association Member of the Shandong Calligraphers Association  Specially Appointed Calligrapher of Qilu Academy of Painting and Calligraphy Vice President of the China Artists Exchange Association Vice Chairman of the National Celebrities Calligraphy and Painting Work Committee Mr. Liu’s calligraphy is characterized by its grandeur, elegance, vigor, and freedom, blending stele inscriptions with classical script styles, rich in connotation and profound traditional mastery, exhibiting a unique artistic style described as “cold spring rinsing jade, autumn hawk diving into the forest, tiger leaping across the sky.” His publications include: “An Outline of the Chinese Academic Calligraphy System,” comprising thirty-six chapters. Mr. Zhang Yefa, Vice Chairman of the China Calligraphers Association and Chairman of the Shandong Calligraphers Association, among other renowned experts, praised his calligraphy: “High positioning, strong academic foundation, distinctive style, and brilliant works.” Mr. Qiu Chengguang, Deputy Director of the World Calligraphy Alliance and Chairman of the Singapore Calligraphy and Seal Carving Association, inscribed in praise of his calligraphy: “Iron brush resounds with true soul.” Mr. Wu Weichun, renowned calligraphy professor in Beijing, commented: “He enters the principles of the Sacred Teachings, captures the essence of Li Beihai, and harmonizes the dual rhythms of stele and帖script.” His calligraphy possesses high academic value and artistic collectibility. The essence of calligraphy lies in the expression of one’s spirit—it is the outward manifestation of personal temperament, emotion, and soul. One’s spiritual realm is further elevated through the movement of brush and ink. It is precisely for this reason that Mr. Liu has devoted decades to researching and creating calligraphy as his primary pursuit. His brushstrokes are seasoned and powerful, his structures dynamic and daringly unconventional. While deeply rooted in traditional mastery, his work also passionately expresses individuality. A comprehensive view of Mr. Liu’s calligraphy clearly reveals his inheritance from ancient masters, synthesis of diverse essences, and bold innovation. In 2018, Mr. Liu inscribed the title for China’s major documentary “One Shot Through · I Love You, China.”

Today, Mr. Liu’s works have matured and gained widespread recognition. I once advised him to raise his artwork pricing, but he dismissed the idea, telling me: “Calligraphy art belongs to the nation and to the people. I should follow Mr. Wei Qihou’s example in popularizing calligraphy, not merely pursuing personal gain. My artwork pricing should remain at a level affordable for ordinary families.”
