 Miao Libo, Xibe ethnic group, pen name: Yibo, born in 1960, native of Shandong Yantai. Vice Director and full-time calligrapher of the National Gift Brand Cultural Creation Center of China Popular Literature and Art Research Association, contracted artist of Century Art Museum, council member of Beijing Great Wall Calligraphers Association, member of China Large-Character Calligraphy Art Research Association, member of China Social Art Association, member of China Calligraphers and Painters Research Association, member of Calligraphers Association of Central Government Agencies.
       Has loved calligraphy since childhood, initially studied Yan Zhenqing’s regular script, later traced back to Han and Wei dynasties (Shimen Song, Zhang Menglong, etc.) and Northern Wei Yuan clan tomb inscriptions; studied seal script masters such as Li Si, Deng Shiru, and Wu Changshuo. Influenced by predecessors, he devoted himself to studying iron-wire seal script, oracle bone script, bronze script, tile script, stone drum script, large seal script, and small seal script.  Rooted in tradition and gifted with insight, his major works include: Dao De Jing, Three-Character Classic, Thousand Character Classic, Disciple’s Rules, Preface to the Orchid Pavilion, Tang poetry and Song lyrics; integrating the spirit of calligraphy into thematic content, he skillfully interprets the cultural essence of calligraphy through brushstrokes and composition—natural, sincere, diverse in style, elegant yet rustic. His works vary in form according to thematic meaning, including Great Wall shape, gourd shape, butterfly shape, map shape, pagoda shape, heart shape, etc., expressing both reverence for traditional culture and creative individuality, showcasing aesthetic form and artistic conception. Frequently participates in public welfare activities and is widely welcomed; many works have been collected by entrepreneurs and international friends.
Obtained Social Art Registered Teacher Certificate in July 2019; donated works “Fushan Cultural Museum” and “Wang Yirong Memorial Hall” collected by Fushan District Wang Yirong Memorial Hall in July 2017; in December 2018, auctioned by Artron with estimated price of 35,000 RMB, actual hammer price 69,000 RMB.
