Mr. Chen Liang’s calligraphy originates from tradition—he respects ancient masters without being bound by them—and he is proficient in regular script, running script, and clerical script. His works excel particularly in regular script, running script, and small regular script. His regular script begins with the Ouyang style, featuring mature brushwork and strict adherence to rules. His running script follows the techniques of the “Two Wangs,” especially focusing on Wang Xizhi’s “Preface to the Orchid Pavilion.” His small regular script synthesizes the strengths of various schools, with clean, nimble brushstrokes. He also excels in traditional Chinese painting. His calligraphy and painting works have been exhibited multiple times at national, provincial, municipal, and county levels, receiving enthusiastic responses. Some of his works have been collected by foreign friends. He is currently the dean of Shangmo Pavilion Calligraphy and Painting Academy in Linyi, Shandong.
