Personal Profile
Wang Junmin, born in 1983 in Shandong Linyi, styled Lepu, pen name Mingdeng, also known as “Plum Blossom Taoist.” He is affectionately nicknamed “The Scholar with Holy Hands” and “The Star-Plucking Master.” Descended from the ancient Langya Wang clan, he is the 19th-generation grandson of Wang Jing, the Grand Guardian of the Crown Prince during the Ming Dynasty. Passionate about calligraphy since childhood, he is well-versed in epigraphy, poetry, and Go, and skilled in the Plum Blossom Numerology. At age 14, due to an accidental fracture of his right hand, he began practicing calligraphy with his left hand. Initially studying Huang Shangu’s style, he later copied the works of the Two Wangs, thoroughly practiced the works of the Four Masters of the Song Dynasty—Su, Huang, Mi, and Cai—as well as the Sanxitang Calligraphy Collection, and modern masters such as Shu Tong, Lin Sanzhi, and Shen Peng. Proficient in all four script styles, especially excelling in running and cursive scripts, the weight of the copied calligraphy models he has accumulated amounts to several tons. Thanks to his innate intelligence, extraordinary insight, and fondness for traveling through famous mountains and rivers while visiting reclusive sages, he can now write with both hands simultaneously, producing different characters—a truly astonishing feat. His calligraphy exhibits a strong musical rhythm and possesses a unique, distinctive style. Currently, he serves as Director of the Xiyantang Academy of Chinese Studies, President of the Zuigutang Calligraphy and Painting Academy, Chief Manager of Junmin Jade Merchants, Founder of Shandong Zuigutang Culture, and a renowned Chinese calligrapher of formidable skill.
