Personal Profile

Sun Feng, formerly known as Sun Feng, born in 1973, is a member of the Communist Party of China and a native of Pan Dian Town, Qihe County, Shandong Province. Passionate about calligraphy and painting since childhood, he withdrew from public life in the late 1980s to devote himself to the study and exploration of traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy. He is especially proficient in the Lingnan and Shanghai School painting styles. In calligraphy, he initially studied the styles of Yan Zhenqing and Liu Gongquan, later specializing in epitaph inscriptions and Zhang Lianqing’s “Record of Nan Gong County School,” under the mentorship of Wei Stele calligrapher Master Chang Qinghai. Currently, he is a member of the Dezhou Couplet Association, a member of the Dezhou Calligraphers Association, and a director of the Qihe County Calligraphers Association. In 1991, he enlisted in the military and served as a hydrographic mapping officer in the People’s Liberation Army Navy’s North Sea Fleet. In 2006, he founded a calligraphy and fine arts education class in society, training over a thousand students over more than a decade, becoming a leading figure promoting traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy in the community. In 2007, he won a silver award at the Harmonious China Cup Invitational Exhibition of Calligraphy and Painting by Masters. In 2016, due to his enthusiasm for public welfare, he joined the Qihe County Love Public Welfare Alliance Calligraphy and Painting Academy, becoming a true cultural ambassador. During this time, his artistic career has been reported by social media, television, newspapers, and magazines. His works have been included in publications such as: “Selected Works of Calligraphers of New China (1949–2009),” “Large-scale Calligraphy and Painting Collection Celebrating the Olympics in Harmonious China,” “Calligraphy and Painting Collection Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Dezhou Federation of Trade Unions,” “First Calligraphy and Painting Collection of Red Memory and Beautiful Dezhou,” “Collection of Outstanding Works from the Dezhou 12.4 National Constitution Day Themed Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition,” and local government-compiled historical records such as “Qihe County Annals,” “Qihe County Cultural Annals,” “Pan Dian Town Annals,” and “Yan Yi Chun Qiu”... His inclusion in these widely recognized publications has garnered widespread public appreciation. In 2016, he was appointed Dean of the Yan Ying Calligraphy and Painting Academy of the Qihe County Love Public Welfare Association; in 2020, he registered for Level 9 in Chinese Bird-and-Flower Painting with China’s Ministry of Culture, and in the same year, registered for Level 9 with the China Calligraphers Association.
