 Wang Kaiyong, styled “Hermit of Lakeside.” Born in 1973 in Tengzhou, Shandong—the homeland of Mozi and Lu Ban—currently resides in Jinan. Influenced by his family from an early age, he developed a deep passion for calligraphy and painting, beginning to practice at the age of five. During his youth, he studied under Wang Xuezhong, emulating the styles of the Two Wangs and Yan Zhenqing. In university, he furthered his calligraphy studies under Professor Cai Xianjin. Later, he attended the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts and the Central Academy of Fine Arts, studying under Shi Guoliang and He Jiaying. Receiving guidance from numerous renowned masters, his skills in calligraphy and painting gradually reached maturity and mastery. He pursues artistic sincerity and uninhibited expression, writing from the heart without being bound by conventional rules. In recent years, his artworks have garnered widespread attention and acclaim, earning high praise. He is also actively involved in public welfare, caring for disadvantaged groups, and frequently donates money and paintings to organizations for the disabled and disaster-stricken areas.
      Currently serves as Director of the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Research Institute, Member of the Shandong Provincial Artists Association, Member of the Shandong Provincial Calligraphers Association, Vice President of the Confucius National Calligraphy and Painting Research Institute, and Vice President of the Qilu Yihe Xuan Calligraphy and Painting Academy.
      His works are grand and majestic, flowing with vigor and precision, uniquely distinctive, and widely collected by collectors both domestically and internationally.
