Personal Profile
Liu Hongqi, male, Han ethnicity, born in 1964, native of Linyi, Shandong, is a military painter.
He has been engaged in landscape painting creation for over forty years. His compositions are precise, his brushwork expressive, and his techniques of outlining, texturing, dotting, and washing have formed a unique system, gradually developing his own distinctive style. His works feature grand and majestic compositions with mountains arranged in harmonious layers. His handling of spatial depth and ink tonality is masterful—mist drifts ethereally, streams murmur gently, and waterfalls cascade dynamically. Up close, trees seem absent; viewed from afar, forests appear lush and vibrant, with fluid brushwork and vivid spirit.
His works have been repeatedly selected for national, provincial, and municipal exhibitions and have won numerous awards. His monumental twelve-foot scroll "Sentiments of Yimeng" is collected by the Shandong Military Museum; "Soul of Yimeng" is collected by Shandong Television. Many more of his works are cherished and collected by art lovers and collectors alike.
Currently, he holds the title of National First-Class Artist, is a member of the Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association, Senior Researcher of Landscape Painting at the Chinese Academy of Calligraphy and Painting Art, Standing Director of the Wang Xizhi Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Art Research Association, Academician of the Chinese Dongyi Calligraphy and Painting Academy, and Vice Chairman of the Linyi Economic and Technological Development Zone Artists Association.
