Personal Profile
Fu Hongyi, styled Fengnian, has devoted his life to education and holds a deep passion for calligraphy. Throughout my life journey and professional career, I regard brush, ink, paper, and inkstone as indispensable elements of my daily existence; they have become the most delightful part of my life. For many years, I have frequently written for institutions and individuals, earning widespread appreciation; I have also practiced copying calligraphy from various renowned masters’ stele inscriptions. After retirement, I have participated multiple times in training sessions led by renowned teachers and remain enthusiastic about practicing and researching calligraphy.
I am currently a member of the District Calligraphy Association, the City Calligraphy Association, the City Association for Research on Calligraphy and Painting by Middle-aged and Elderly People, and the Lubei Calligraphy and Painting Academy; a member of the Shandong Provincial Association of Calligraphy and Painting for Retired Cadres, a member of the Bincheng District Poetry Association, a member of the Shandong Provincial Poetry Association, and Vice President and Secretary-General of the Taiji Poetry Society. My poetry has been published in Bincheng Phoenix Poetry Journal, Poetry and Painting Newspaper, and Chinese Poetry Monthly. I am also a member of the Binzhou Writers Association. Over twenty articles I authored on traditional culture—such as “How to Understand Being Qualified Parents,” “Respecting Others Elevates Oneself,” and “Practicing Socialist Core Values and Promoting the Inheritance of Traditional Chinese Culture”—have been published in Luzhong Morning News.
I also deeply love Tai Chi. I currently serve as Vice Chairman of the City Tai Chi Association. I won third prize in the First Calligraphy and Painting Art Exhibition at Binzhou Elderly University; received an Excellence Award in the Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition Celebrating the 56th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China, organized by provincial and municipal retired educators; in 2016, received an Excellence Award in the City’s Elderly Party Members Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition; participated in exhibitions organized by the Binzhou Municipal Propaganda Department, Municipal Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Municipal Calligraphy Association, and other units, and received Excellence Awards. In 2015, I was awarded the Gold Prize in the national “Virtue Glorifies China, Most Beautiful Calligrapher” Invitational Exhibition for Middle-aged and Elderly Calligraphers and Painters, hosted by Changsha Shangyun Calligraphy and Painting Academy, and was specially conferred the honorary title of “2015 Virtue Glorifies China, Most Beautiful Calligrapher.” In 2015, I received an Excellence Award in the Third National “Chinese Dream Cup” Calligraphy and Painting Competition, co-organized by the Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association, the Chinese Contemporary Calligraphy and Painting Masters Association, and the Chinese Mao-Style Calligraphy Artists Association. In 2015, I won the Gold Prize in the “Monument of Blood” Calligraphy and Painting Competition commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, hosted by Beijing Tianjun Calligraphy and Painting Academy; my works and personal resume were included in the publication “Monument of Blood: Collection of Works by National Calligraphy and Painting Masters.” I won second prize in the Sixth “Xizhi Cup” National Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Competition, and first prize in the “Eternal Banner: National Calligraphy and Painting Masters Exhibition Competition,” and was specially conferred the honorary title of “Chinese Red Calligraphy and Painting Master.” My calligraphy works, characterized by their bold and elegant style, have always been well-received by the public. In recent years, I have taken researching calligraphy as my greatest pleasure in life. To inherit and promote traditional Chinese culture and calligraphy art, and to strive for the standardization and regularization of Chinese character writing, I have specifically studied and practiced regular script, especially the styles of Ouyang Xun and Liu Gongquan, aiming to create works even more beloved by the public.
In order to promote traditional culture and advance the art of calligraphy, and to enable more people and children to write correct and standardized Chinese characters, in May 2018, I registered and established the Binzhou Municipal Committee for Caring for the Next Generation’s “Regular Script Lecture Group” through the Civil Affairs Bureau. I am a member of this lecture group and serve as its Deputy Director. Since its establishment, with the support of the Municipal Committee for Caring for the Next Generation, we have been invited to conduct teaching activities in three communities, receiving warm welcome and high praise from the general public.
