 Sun Shao Cui, also known as Sun Wei, childhood name Xiao Tao. Born in Qingdao in 1946. Graduated successively from the Medical Department of Shenyang Medical College, the Chinese Painting Department of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, and the Advanced Calligraphy Research Class of Tsinghua University. Holds a doctoral degree and is a National First-Class Artist. He is the senior disciple of Professor Sun Entong’s Landscape Painting Studio at Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts.
Inventor of four national patents. One of them received the China Outstanding Patent Award from the Beijing Patent Office. Another received an international gold medal in the United States.
Currently a member of the China Democratic Revolutionary Committee. Director of the Editorial Board of “Modern Chinese Calligraphers and Painters”. Member of the Liaoning Branch of the China Artists Association, and President of the Sydney Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Academy. Has held numerous exhibitions both domestically and internationally.
In 1995, his Chinese painting "Autumn Colors" won the Third Liaoning Provincial Culture and Art Award.
In 1996, his Chinese painting "Autumn Colors in Guandong" won an award at the "Black Earth" exhibition hosted by the China Artists Association.
In 1997, his Chinese painting "Return" won an Excellence Award at the 1997 Hong Kong Reunification Exhibition hosted by the China Artists Association, and was collected by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
In 1998, he won the "Painting Sage Award" at the First Chinese Painting Sage Cup.
In 2001, his Chinese painting "Sails Amidst Mountains and Rivers" won an award commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
In 2004, his Chinese painting "Sea of Clouds and Pine Winds" won an award at an exhibition hosted by the China Artists Association.
In 2005, his painting "Such Splendid Mountains and Rivers" won an award at the Huangshan Cup National Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition and was honored with the title "Top 100 Chinese Artists".
In 2007, his Chinese painting "Rising Sun in the East" won an award at the China Artists Association Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition. His works have been exhibited in Japan, Taiwan, Australia, and elsewhere. Published collections include "Sun Shao Cui: A Powerful Landscape Painter", "Sun Shao Cui’s Fan Surface Art", and "Artist Sun Shao Cui". His name is included in the Fifth Edition of "Who’s Who in the World", selected for "The Great Dictionary of Chinese People's Artists", "The Great Dictionary of Chinese Calligraphers and Painters", "Exhibition of Masterpieces by Contemporary Chinese Calligraphers and Painters", and "The Great Dictionary of Chinese Figures" approved by the Central Ministry of Personnel, etc.
