 Personal Profile

Li Lianhe, male, born in 1965. Since childhood, he has had a deep passion for calligraphy and painting. He began working in 1983 and graduated from the Department of Automation at Qingdao Institute of Chemical Technology in 1985, returning to his company where he has worked ever since. Influenced and guided by his elders since elementary school, he began initial practice in calligraphy. Later, he extensively explored painting and seal carving, remaining devoted to these arts to this day. During both his studies and employment, he utilized spare time for self-study from books. In 1989, through the recommendation of a relative residing long-term in Shanghai, he was fortunate to meet Mr. Wu Yiren. Mr. Wu’s unique artistic philosophy and profound mastery of seal carving deeply nourished my long-thirsty soul. From that moment on, I picked up the carving knife and trained diligently and tirelessly. After years of arduous effort, I have completed and created numerous fine works, participating multiple times in calligraphy, painting, and seal carving exhibitions organized by provincial, regional, and municipal authorities, winning awards on several occasions. Through each seal carving creation, I continually realize that my decades-long persistence in this miniature art stems not only from the joy of producing satisfying works, but also from enjoying the repeated exchanges and interactions between human nature and materiality during the creative process—the mutual manifestation of human beauty and material beauty. This is the freedom of spirit where self and object are forgotten, an indispensable part of my life.
