Zhang Zhanfu, styled Mo Long, and known as the Resident Scholar of Jinheshupo, is from Weifang, Shandong Province. He graduated from university. Born in February 1956, he served in the Political Department of the Shanghai Garrison Command from 1976. In 1987, he transferred to work in the Weifang municipal government department. Currently, he is a researcher at the China Academy of Art Research's Chinese Calligraphy Institute, a member of the China Calligraphers and Painters Association, a member of the China Calligraphers and Painters Association, the chief editor of the Military Sunshine Calligraphy and Painting Newspaper, the deputy editor-in-chief of the Eastern Calligraphy and Painting Newspaper, the vice president of the Yidu Military Calligraphy and Painting Art Research Association, the vice president of the Weifang Sunshine Calligraphy and Painting Academy, the executive vice president of the Military Art Institute of the Weifang Veterans Promotion Association, the honorary president of Taishan Academy, and an art advisor for the Oriental Calligraphy and Painting Academy.
Since childhood, he has been fond of calligraphy, extensively studying the works of Ouyang Xun, Yan Zhenqing, Liu Gongquan, and Zhao Mengfu, later specializing in the "Two Wangs" (Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi), under the guidance of Zhang Rongqing, a doctoral supervisor at the China Academy of Arts. His expertise lies in regular script, running script, cursive script, and large-character calligraphy. Over four decades of dedication have honed his skills; his running script is powerful and naturally structured; his cursive script flows like dragons dancing and clouds moving; his large-character calligraphy is thick and grand.
His cursive script works have won numerous domestic awards. In 2019, he was awarded first prize in the "Transportation Memory·National Strength Dream - National Transportation Workers' Calligraphy, Photography, and Painting Exhibition Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of New China," hosted by the Transportation Calligraphy Association, the All-China Seamen Construction Trade Union Committee, and the China Transportation Association. He has participated in cultural exchange activities organized by the Chinese Cultural Arts Troupe in South Korea and Singapore, delivering keynote speeches. His works have been widely reported by media outlets such as Baidu, the China Painting Capital Network, the Oriental Calligraphy and Painting Network, Dazhong Network, Gansu Network, Seoul Television Station, Shandong Television Station, and Weifang Television Station. His works are collected by numerous calligraphy enthusiasts, foreign friends, political figures, entrepreneurs, collectors, museums, libraries, and art institutions including the Seoul Art Museum. The Weifang charity organizations have frequently organized auctions of his works.
