Personal Profile

Hao Dongfeng, male, styled Huayu, pseudonym Lingyunzi, was born in October 1958 in Jinan, Shandong Province. He holds a bachelor's degree and is a member of the Communist Party of China. Hao Dongfeng has loved calligraphy since childhood but stopped practicing for many years due to studies and work. In recent years, he has resumed his passion, diligently studying and copying ancient steles and calligraphic models without pause, excelling particularly in clerical script. Since 2015, he has studied under several renowned calligraphers: National First-Class Calligrapher Gu Zhanfu; Cao Xinqin, a member of the China Calligraphers Association and Deputy Secretary-General of the Shandong Provincial Research Association of Elderly Calligraphers and Painters; and Wang Shengfeng, a member of the China Calligraphers Association, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Jinan City Calligraphers Association. He has also received personal guidance multiple times from Liu Xishan, a member of the China Calligraphers Association and well-known calligrapher, and Li Yanxuan, a member of the China Calligraphers Association, Honorary Vice Chairman of the China Hard-Tip Pen Calligraphy Association, and Chairman of the Shandong Branch of the Hard-Tip Pen Calligraphy Committee. His calligraphy has gradually matured—vigorous and powerful, combining tradition with unique personal style—and is highly appreciated by fellow calligraphy enthusiasts. Hao Dongfeng is currently: A member of the Chinese Couplet Society; A member of the Zhongxuan Shengshi International Academy of Painting and Calligraphy; A member of the Chinese Artists Network; A member of the China Research Association of Elderly Calligraphers and Painters; A member of the China Hard-Tip Pen Calligraphy Association; A Senior Hard-Tip Pen Calligraphy Instructor certified by the Education Ministry Examination and Training Center; Hong Kong Satellite TV Calligraphy Association member; A member of the Jinan City Calligraphers Association; A member of the Lixia District Calligraphers Association of Jinan; A director of the Shandong Yanhuang Academy of Painting and Calligraphy; A director of the Dashun Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, among others. In 2017, he won an Excellence Award at the National Members' Painting, Calligraphy, and Seal Carving Exhibition hosted by the China Research Association of Elderly Calligraphers and Painters and was included in the anthology "Ink Through the Ages: Everlasting Years"; In 2017, he won an Excellence Award at the "Qilu Petrochemical Cup" Shandong Workers' Painting and Calligraphy Competition and was included in the collection "Workers' Art Songs of a Prosperous Era." In 2018, he won a Silver Award at the 11th Shandong International Mass Arts Festival – International Confucius Painting and Calligraphy Art Festival Exhibition commemorating the 2569th anniversary of Confucius’ birth. He has repeatedly achieved excellent results in painting and calligraphy exhibitions and competitions organized by the Jinan Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, the Jinan Literary Federation, the Jinan Collectors Association, and others, with his works collected and published.
