Wang Fatong, Taoist Feng Shui calligrapher and painter, Art Committee member of the Taoist Calligraphy and Painting Academy of the Chinese Taoist Association, and President of the Chinese Taoist Feng Shui Calligraphy and Painting Academy.
Wang Fatong, styled himself as Hongzhen Daoist, secular name Wang Shiqing, courtesy name Lingxu, also known as Mingyangzi, is the 29th-generation successor of the Quanzhen Longmen Sect. He is a Taoist Feng Shui calligrapher and painter, Art Committee member of the Taoist Calligraphy and Painting Academy of the Chinese Taoist Association, and President of the Chinese Taoist Feng Shui Calligraphy and Painting Academy. Hongzhen Daoist has been passionate about calligraphy, painting, and metaphysics since childhood. After becoming a Taoist monk, he resided for 13 years in Sanwei Mountain, Gansu Dunhuang, for spiritual cultivation. Through more than a decade of dedicated monastic practice, he realized that to transcend the mundane world, one must first engage with it—tempering one’s character amidst worldly affairs is the true path to attaining supreme liberation from the cycle of birth and death. Just as the lotus must grow in mud to bloom in purity, only by maintaining a serene and composed mind amid complex environments can one truly become an extraordinary, transcendent individual beyond the ordinary! Thus, in 2013, he returned to secular society for cultivation, and in the same year enrolled in the China Television Correspondence University of Calligraphy and Painting. In 2016, he graduated with excellent results and obtained relevant certificates. In 2014, he studied traditional Chinese painting under Gong Peiyan, former Chairman of the Tai’an Artists Association. In the autumn of 2015, he studied calligraphy under Chen Zhenyuan, President of the China Calligraphy Academy in Beijing. Under the careful guidance of these two masters, he absorbed more nourishment from traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting, further perfecting his Feng Shui artworks. Taoist Feng Shui calligraphy and painting, uniquely created by Hongzhen Daoist, integrates Taoist Feng Shui principles, talismans, internal alchemy, guiding techniques, calligraphy, and painting into one cohesive art form. These works serve practical purposes such as warding off evil, dispelling misfortune, attracting blessings and prosperity, and promoting auspiciousness while avoiding adversity. Through prolonged periods of secluded cultivation, he channels the harmonious energy of heaven, earth, humanity, and the cosmos into his artworks, imbuing them with high levels of harmonious energy (known in Taoism as “Hunyuan Qi”), thereby enabling them to transform Feng Shui energy fields and bring positive energy into our lives, altering unfavorable fortunes. In the autumn of 2020, he took permanent residence at Tongming Palace in Shandong Dezhou, where, with the support of Daoist Master Han Dingyao, President of the Dezhou Taoist Association and Abbot of Tongming Palace, he established the Chinese Taoist Feng Shui Calligraphy and Painting Academy and was appointed its President.
