Personal Profile
Wang Bin, born in October 1967, is a native of Gaotang County, Shandong Province—the hometown of the renowned Chinese painter Li Kuchan. He began copying ancient stele inscriptions and studying calligraphy at the age of 10, starting with Tang dynasty regular script, focusing primarily on the Ouyang Xun style while also exploring Yan, Liu, and running script (Wang Xizhi), thus gaining comprehensive practice across various script styles. Later, he attended multiple seminars organized by the provincial calligraphers’ association and received profound guidance from teachers such as Zou Fangchen, Gao Yan, and Hu Zongjiang, greatly enhancing his artistic skills. His works encompass regular, running, cursive, clerical, and large-character scripts; simultaneously, he practices seal carving and traditional Chinese painting, ceaselessly honing his craft and demonstrating solid mastery. Rooted in traditional techniques, his calligraphy embraces pluralism and personalized exploration, absorbing nourishment from Han dynasty clerical script, respecting ancient masters without being bound by them, and forming an artistic style characterized by steady brushwork, rich and moist strokes, dynamic character composition, and fluent rhythm. His paintings and calligraphy emphasize meaning, interest, and spiritual resonance—bold and unrestrained yet retaining liveliness—with strong humanistic qualities and distinctive artistic features, approaching the level of renowned masters. In August 2006, he founded the Yiyou Calligraphy School in Gaotang, synthesizing over 40 years of artistic creation and practice to disseminate calligraphic and painting skills and teach moral exemplars, achieving remarkable success both within and beyond the school, nurturing numerous talents whose achievements flourish like blossoming peaches and plums.

Since serving as principal of Shandong Province Gaotang County Yiyou Calligraphy School, he has dedicated himself to calligraphy pedagogy, receiving six provincial and municipal certificates for calligraphy instruction and the title of Outstanding Instructor awarded by Shandong Provincial Department of Education, Provincial Calligraphers Association, and Provincial Artists Association. Many of his students have consecutively won first and second prizes in the Shandong Youth Calligraphy and Painting Competition. In 2017, Yiyou Calligraphy School was honored as Gaotang County’s first Red Culture Education Demonstration Unit by the Shandong Provincial Department of Education, Provincial Calligraphers Association, and Provincial Artists Association.
