Yuan Qixiao, female, is one of the contemporary outstanding young painters. She studied under Mr. Lin Xiaozhi and is currently the president of Rizhao Qixiao Calligraphy and Painting Academy, as well as a member of the Nanjing Artists Association and the Rizhao Artists Association.
Yuan Qixiao was born in 1984 in Ju County, Shandong, into a scholarly family. Possessing artistic talent since childhood, her grandfather and father were both local teachers; influenced by her family environment, she could sketch from life at the age of six. In her early years, she studied many ancient masters, acquiring solid traditional brushwork skills and theoretical knowledge. Later, she apprenticed under the renowned contemporary Nanjing painter Mr. Lin Xiaozhi, learning the brush-and-ink spirit of Mr. Huang Binhong’s landscape paintings, and gradually developed her own distinctive painting style. She excels in Chinese freehand landscape painting, Chinese heavy-color landscape painting, meticulous-style bird-and-flower painting, and figure painting, covering a broad artistic range. Her artistic creations have received widespread recognition and high praise from many art critics.
On February 3, 2018, she won the Top Ten Painting Award of the Xueshan Wenxin Prize in Ju County, Shandong. She participated in the “Spirit of Craftsmanship” Masters’ Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition in Chengdu on May 20, 2018; the Chinese Painting Masters Invitational Exhibition commemorating the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return on July 1, 2018; the National Masters Invitational Exhibition commemorating the 120th anniversary of Lin Sanzhi’s birth on December 27, 2018; and the Masters’ Calligraphy and Painting Invitational Exhibition commemorating the 30th anniversary of Lin Sanzhi’s death on September 8, 2019.
