 Zhang Yongcheng, courtesy name Hengyuan, is a member of the China Hard Pen Calligraphy Association, a member of the Shandong Provincial Hard Pen Calligraphers Association, an outstanding instructor at the China International Calligraphy and Painting Art Research and Education Training Center, a first-class calligrapher, and a member of the Qingzhou City Rural Calligraphy and Painting Art Association in Shandong Province. He is also the owner of Hengyuan Calligraphy and Painting Studio. Originally from Qingzhou City, Shandong Province, he is a retired teacher.       He began his calligraphy studies with the Two Wangs, and later practiced the styles of Yan, Ouyang, Zhao, and Liu. His works have repeatedly won national honors. In March 1999, he won the Outstanding Work Award in the Senior Group at the 2nd Wenhua Cup National Hard Pen Calligraphy Duanwei Competition, and received the “Running-Cursive Script 7th Duanwei” certificate. In 2015, he won the First Prize in the 6th “Xizhi Cup” Chinese Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Invitational Competition, and the Silver Award in the 5th “Yanhuang Cup” International Poetry, Calligraphy, Painting and Seal Carving Art Competition. In September 2019, his regular script work “Lanting Xu” won the Gold Award in the Calligraphy Category of the “Sons and Daughters of China” National Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Masterpiece Competition, and he was simultaneously awarded the honorary title of “Outstanding Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Master of 2019.” His regular script “Ode to the Lotus” won the Silver Award in the Calligraphy Category of the “Ode to the Motherland” National Calligraphy and Painting Competition commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of New China in 2019. His running script “The Backbone of the Nation, the Soul of China” won the Gold Award in the Calligraphy Category of the 2020 “Great Love of China” National Calligraphy and Painting Competition themed “United Against the Epidemic.” In August 2019, he received the Outstanding Instructor Award from the China International Calligraphy and Painting Art Research and Education Training Center. His works have been included in publications such as “International Hard Pen Calligraphy Panorama,” “Selected Works of the 6th ‘Xizhi Cup’ Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Competition,” “Masterpieces Collection of the 5th ‘Yanhuang Cup’ International Poetry, Calligraphy, Painting and Seal Carving Art Competition,” “China Hard Pen Calligraphy Talent Register,” and “Masterpieces Collection of the 2019 ‘Ode to the Motherland’ National Calligraphy and Painting Competition Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of New China.” He has also written plaques and hanging scrolls for shops and factories of many friends. His calligraphy and painting works have been collected by numerous connoisseurs both at home and abroad.
