Personal Profile

Ma Qingshi, currently Vice President of the China Loving Heart Calligraphy and Painting Research Institute, National First-Class Artist, member of the Shandong Artists Association, member of the Jinan Artists Association, and Director of the Jinan Celebrities Painting Academy. Born in 1953 in Dajiangou Village, Shizhong District, Jinan City, Shandong Province, into a family of carpenters, he worked as a carpenter in his youth while passionately pursuing Chinese landscape painting. Despite financial hardship, he persisted in studying Chinese landscape painting alongside his work, practicing diligently and immersing himself in research. He extensively read books on Chinese landscape painting, including the芥子园画传 (Jieziyuan Painting Manual), and copied numerous works by ancient and modern masters of Chinese landscape painting, achieving notable success. Through long-term artistic practice and theoretical exploration, he gradually developed a distinctive personal style characterized by majestic elegance, fresh refinement, and broad popular appeal. Later, under the guidance and encouragement of renowned landscape painters such as Mr. Sheng Hongyi and Mr. Wu Shuyu, his works evolved a fresh style and lofty artistic conception, blending traditional foundations with contemporary spirit. Through painting, he seeks enlightenment, self-cultivation, perseverance, and elevated artistic refinement. His works have been published in multiple newspapers and periodicals and have received numerous honors and certificates.
