Fang Youjin, styled Yunzhi, was born in 1943 in Pingdu City, Shandong Province. He has loved calligraphy and painting since childhood. During his youth, due to famine in his hometown, he drifted to Heilongjiang, where he extensively interacted with various social strata and accumulated rich life experience.   He has worked as a carpenter, middle school teacher, and grassroots factory cadre. Influenced by his family, he possesses a solid literary foundation, particularly fond of classical literature, and has published a volume titled "Poems and Essays by Fang Youjin." In 2006, he graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of the Correspondence University of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting, and later studied under Mr. Liu Songyan, attending his advanced landscape painting class. After graduation, he continued to receive long-term guidance from Mr. Liu. His works have frequently participated in major domestic calligraphy and painting exhibitions and won awards. Exhibitions have been held at venues including the Cultural Palace of the Working People, Dazhong Temple, CPPCC Auditorium, and Olympic Village. In 2008, he won the second prize at the Celebrating the Olympics Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition. He received the title of "Chinese Loving-Heart Artist" and a medal for donating artworks after the Wenchuan Earthquake. In 2009, he won an Excellence Award at the Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China. He won the second prize at the 4th Canada Chinese Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Grand Exhibition. His landscape painting won the Gold Award at the 1st China Dream National Calligraphy and Painting Grand Exhibition. In 2017, he won the Gold Award at the Grand Exhibition of Guodian Calligraphy and Painting Academy, and was awarded the Medal of Chinese Art Masters. In 2018, a stamp album featuring his works was published by the United States Postal Service. In 2019, a stamp album was published by China Post. In 2019, a stamp album was published by China Postal Products Publicity Company. He is currently a council member of the Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association, a member of the Guodian Calligraphy and Painting Academy, a creative researcher of the Beijing Senior Calligraphy and Painting Research Association, and Vice President of the Chongyang Calligraphy and Painting Friendship Association.
