Zhao Zhigang, styled as Banmu Garden Master, with studio names Banmu Garden and Xiuhu Hall, male, Han ethnicity, born in July 1956 in Gaomi City, Shandong Province.
Studied under renowned masters such as Zhang Qifeng, Han Qingsheng, and Jueshi. Founder of the Red Sorghum Painting School. Graduated from the English Department of Shandong Normal University; formerly served as an English teacher in middle schools and colleges, English teaching researcher, and held positions in radio/TV news and government agencies.
Currently holds the following positions:

Influenced by his family environment from childhood, he developed a deep passion for calligraphy and painting. Due to professional demands and responsibilities, his artistic interest and skill steadily improved. He continuously exchanged, discussed, and learned from renowned masters, frequently organized and participated in national and regional calligraphy and painting competitions, exhibitions, and cultural exchanges, earning numerous honors and awards. His works are widely loved and collected by society at large, both domestically and internationally.
In 2013, awarded First Prize in the 2nd Shangu Cup Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition;
In 2014, awarded First Prize in the 2nd “Ode to Great Leaders · Chinese Dream” National Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Competition, and Silver Prize in the 4th Yanhuang Cup International Poetry, Calligraphy, Painting and Seal Carving Art Competition;
In 2015, awarded First Prize in the 1st Xiangguang Cup National Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition commemorating the 460th anniversary of Dong Qichang’s birth, First Prize in the 6th Xizhi Cup National Calligraphy and Painting Invitational, and Silver Prize in the National Poetry, Calligraphy and Photography Competition commemorating the 70th Anniversary of Victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression;
In 2016, awarded Gold Prize in the “Sunset Red Lanting” National Senior Cultural Competition, Silver Prize in the National Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Competition commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Long March Victory, Gold Prize in the 6th Yanhuang Cup International Poetry, Calligraphy, Painting and Seal Carving Art Competition, and Special Prize in the “Golden List Collection of Contemporary Chinese Literary and Artistic Masters and Masterpieces”;
