  Xu Baozhou, a renowned landscape painter and National First-Class Art Master, was born in 1953 in Wenshang, Shandong. He studied at the People's Liberation Army Academy of Arts in 2014 and currently resides in Guilin, Guangxi. For many years, Mr. Xu has devoted himself to the study of painting and calligraphy, traveling extensively across China. During his journeys, he often draws inspiration from the scenery, sketching and painting on-site, emphasizing the integration of real landscapes with artistic expression, and gradually developing his own distinctive style. His primary focus is landscape painting, rooted in tradition yet bold in innovation, with solid foundational skills and diverse artistic expressions. Many of Xu Baozhou’s works have won major awards at large-scale domestic and international painting and calligraphy exhibitions. In 1996, he won the First Prize in the Calligraphy and Painting Competition organized by the Guangzhou Air Force Logistics General Equipment Department; In 2010, he won the First Prize in the Calligraphy and Painting Competition organized by the Guilin Municipal Committee; In 2015, his appraisal price was set at 8,000 RMB per square chi; In 2017, he was nationally appraised at auction level as 12,000 RMB per square chi; In 2018, a four-square-chi work was auctioned for 760,000 RMB by a Hong Kong auction house; In 2018, his work “High Mountains and Flowing Water” won the Gold Award at the national exhibition “A Single Spark Can Start a Prairie Fire,” organized by the China Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, and was collected by the Jinggangshan Revolutionary Museum; In 2019, his work “Qian Island Map” won the Silver Award at the China Academy of Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition; In 2019, he was appointed as a lecturer at the Famous Landscape Painting Masters Lecture Hall; In 2020, he was commissioned as a designer for China Post stamp images. His painting and calligraphy works are frequently published in central news media and have been featured multiple times in Guangxi Daily, Nanning Evening News, and other media outlets. He has been honored as an Outstanding People’s Artist, widely admired by painting and calligraphy enthusiasts, and his works are actively collected.
