Personal Profile
Yu Zhongji, in 2020, I am 61 years old and have been teaching for 41 years.
I have loved painting since childhood. After beginning my teaching career in 1978, I have always been engaged in work related to fine arts. I utilized holidays and spare time to exchange experiences with fellow artists. From September 1987 to September 1990, I graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of the Correspondence University of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, Jinan Branch. Since then, I developed a strong interest in traditional Chinese painting and resolved to cherish my time by specializing in landscape painting. Over thirty years have swiftly passed. In 1994, I encountered a turning point in both my life and artistic style—I became the only direct disciple of the renowned painter Mr. Xia Yifu, who was living in Taiwan at the time. From then on, I specialized in "Dry Brush and Scorched Ink Painting." My master’s guidance and encouragement inspired me greatly in this technique. In 2014, my work "Mountain Waterfall" was selected for the Yantai Art Academy’s 2014 Spring Festival Exhibition and received an Excellence Award. In 2015, my piece "Solitary Pine" was selected for the National Freehand Landscape Painting Exhibition "Ink Pengcheng." In 2016, I held a joint master-disciple exhibition with my mentor Mr. Xia at the Yantai Art Museum. In 2020, my work "Mountain Scene" was selected for the Yantai Art Academy’s Spring Festival Exhibition.Painting will accompany me throughout my life; diligence is my direction.
Currently, I am a member of the Shandong Provincial Artists Association, a member of the Shandong Calligraphy and Painting Society, a member of the Yantai Artists Association, and an advisor to the Qixia Artists Association.
