Calligraphy Journey: Born into an ordinary peasant family, neither his grandfather nor father had any literacy. Growing up during a turbulent era, my elementary and junior high school curricula were filled with labor, agricultural, and military training courses, while cultural subjects were largely omitted. What filled my mind and eyes were the large slogans and slogans plastered all over the streets. Out of curiosity, I wandered through alleys and streets, visually copying and manually practicing the large characters on slogans. Sometimes I even picked up fallen slogans and took them home to repeatedly copy them. This caught the attention of Mr. Yang, a neighbor who ran a private school, and from then on, my dream and lifelong pursuit of calligraphy began.
During my years in the military, the barracks became a paradise for indulging my passion for calligraphy. Whether on sentry duty, on shift, or during holidays, I never slackened in practicing all five script styles, especially excelling in Han clerical script. Later, I was transferred to the regiment’s political department to work as a secretary. After demobilization, I have been engaged in cultural work at the district and township levels. In 1988, I participated in a series of calligraphy lectures byWei Qihou and became his disciple. In recent years, I have been dedicated to calligraphy teaching and children's training, persistently practicing calligraphy for decades without tiring of it!
