Fan Lei, born in October 1972, graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Taishan University in 1993. He is currently the Chairman of Shandong Nature Cultural Development Co., Ltd., Vice President of the Shandong Minjin Entrepreneurs Working Committee, Executive President in Zibo City, Vice Chairman of Zibo Engraved Porcelain Artists Association, Vice Chairman of Zibo Young Artists Association, Vice President of Zibo Decoration Association, Vice President of Zibo Design Industry Association, Executive Vice President of Zibo Luzhong Collection Research Institute, Executive Vice President of Zibo Guanzhong Painting and Calligraphy Academy, recipient of the Zibo May 1st Labor Medal, awardee of the Sixth Literary and Art Award, Deputy to the 17th People's Congress of Zhangdian District, Zibo City, and member of the Education, Science, Culture, and Public Health Professional Committee.
For nearly more than twenty years, Fan Lei has been studying various expressive forms of Chinese painting with his elder brother Fan Jie (currently Chairman of Zibo Artists Association), creating numerous outstanding Chinese paintings that combine cultural depth with contemporary spirit. Particularly in the techniques of flower-and-bird and snowscape landscape painting, he has achieved certain developments and innovations, and his works are widely loved by people. In June 1996, his traditional Chinese painting "Autumn Forest of Hometown" was selected for the First Shengjing Cup Painting, Calligraphy, Seal Carving Art Exhibition to Japan, exhibited in Akita City, Japan, and collected there. In August 2002, his work "Snow Scene" won the first prize at the First National Engraved Porcelain Art Grand Prix Competition. In 2004, he successfully organized and held the "Jintian Cup" National Cartoon Competition. In May 2005, his Chinese painting "Families at Mount Tai" received the Excellence Award in the "National Chinese Painting Works Exhibition" hosted by the China Artists Association. In October 2007, he received a 45-minute artistic interview on the Lifestyle Channel of Zibo TV Station, and was invited as spatial art director for multiple live programs such as "New Window," "Life Perspective," "Xiaoyu Interview," and "First Real Estate" on Zibo TV Station, also creatively writing the title for the program "Life Perspective." In March 2008, he was awarded the Sixth Literary and Art Award of Zibo City. In June 2010, he was selected by the China Building Decoration Association as a "Nationally Accomplished Senior Architect." In April 2011, he received the Zibo May 1st Labor Medal. In August 2012, he attended the Advanced Training Program for Outstanding Full-time Painters hosted by the Ministry of Culture and successfully completed it. In November 2012, he was elected Vice Chairman of the Zibo Young Artists Association. In March 2014, he was elected Executive Vice President of Zibo Luxi’nan Chamber of Commerce and Secretary-General of the Construction Alliance. In October 2014, he participated in the exhibition and academic symposium for artists from Zibo selected for the 12th National Art Exhibition, hosted by the Zibo Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and Television and the Zibo Federation of Literary and Art Circles. In December of the same year, he was elected Vice President of the Shandong Minjin Entrepreneurs Working Committee and Executive President in Zibo City. In January 2015, he was appointed Executive Vice President of the Luzhong Collection Research Institute; in May, he was elected Art Director of the Expert Committee at the Sino-German Art Innovation Research Center; in June, he graced the cover of "Zibo Business World." In August 2016, he was elected Deputy to the 17th People's Congress of Zhangdian District, Zibo City, and member of the Education, Science, Culture, and Public Health Professional Committee; in October, he was appointed by the Zibo Urban Planning Bureau as a Supervisor for Urban and Rural Planning. In April 2017, he participated in the "Painting and Calligraphy into Campus" event organized by the Zibo Artists Association. In June 2017, he attended the First Council of the Shandong Young Artists Association. In July 2017, he participated in the "Colorful Innocent Heart—Children’s Art Study Tour Public Education Experience Activity" co-hosted by the Communist Youth League Zibo Municipal Committee and the Zibo Artists Association. In October 2017, he participated in and organized the "First Zibo Youth Artworks Exhibition," hosted by the Communist Youth League Zibo Municipal Committee and the Zibo Federation of Literary and Art Circles. In December 2018, he held the "Fan Lei Spring-Welcoming Ink Miniature Painting Exhibition." Over the years, his works have been published in professional newspapers and journals such as "Fine Art Overview," "Art World," "Art Newspaper," "New Art," and "China Painting and Calligraphy News." His artworks have been included in publications such as "Chinese Sketching Works Collection," "Techniques of Chinese Painting Series," "Dictionary Recording Promising Contemporary Chinese Painters," and "Appreciation Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese Painting Masters." The main tone of his artistic expression is calm, cool, elegant, and graceful, with fresh, free-flowing brushwork and distinct individuality. His unique artistic charm, derived from nature yet transcending nature, has received high praise and acclaim from experts, scholars, and all sectors of society.
