Cao Dehua
Personal Profile

Cao Dehua, pen name Wenbo, was born in 1964 in the hometown of Mencius in Shandong Province. From an early age, he was deeply influenced by his father and developed a passion for calligraphy. He is employed by the Zhongxin Dian Town Government in Zoucheng City. In his work, he began writing news reports and has persisted in writing ever since; gradually, he became fond of poetry, literature, painting, and calligraphy creation, adhering to the learning philosophy of “aiming high” to promote China’s traditional culture. His calligraphy studies began with copying ancient steles and inscriptions, including Yan Zhenqing’s “Duo Bao Ta Bei,” Ouyang Xun’s “Jiucheng Gong Liquan Ming,” Wang Xizhi’s “Lanting Xu,” and the Han Dynasty stele “Cao Quan Bei.” In the early stages of learning traditional Chinese painting, he self-studied using “Jieziyuan Huazhuan” as a foundation, and later systematically studied online through the Dapeng Institute of Chinese Painting Education. He has copied masterpieces of landscape and flower-and-bird paintings from renowned artists throughout Chinese history. In his creative process, he adheres to the principle of rooting his art in the soil of the nation while embracing contemporary consciousness—promoting national spirit, inspiring the people, celebrating achievements, and pursuing modernity. His poetry is based on classical forms, conveying positive energy through accessible, rhythmic, and melodious language.
