Personal Profile
Li Jiqun, male, ancestral home in Shenyang, Liaoning, holds a university degree, and is currently a council member of the China Youth Calligraphers Association and a member of the Shenyang Calligraphers Association. He has been engaged in the research and creation of calligraphy for over thirty years, initially studying Tang dynasty calligraphy, then tracing back to the Qin, Han, Wei, and Jin dynasties, extensively absorbing diverse strengths.          Zhuangzi said: "Great wisdom is broad and relaxed; petty wisdom is narrow and fussy. Great speech is brilliant and expansive; petty speech is trivial and nitpicking." This holds true for scholarship, and likewise for calligraphy and painting—it requires a vast perspective and profound cultural cultivation. Calligraphic techniques can be attained through daily practice, but the ultimate pursuit of calligraphy as an art—its artistic realm and spiritual essence—not only demands objective effort, but more importantly, deep scholarly attainments. Chinese calligraphy has served as a vehicle in the historical development of Chinese civilization and is closely linked to the Chinese people's worldview. I believe that Chinese calligraphy has witnessed the evolution of Chinese culture for thousands of years; each character was endowed by our ancestors with meanings derived from life, making them a precious treasure of our nation.         His works have been selected for numerous exhibitions, including the "International Calligraphy Exhibition," "National Couplets Exhibition," "Running and Cursive Script Exhibition," and others, and have won multiple awards. His creed: "Artistic works should appeal to both the refined and the common, conveying beauty as a natural expression of the artist's individuality and sincerity..." He has been selected for more than thirty major calligraphy exhibitions hosted by the China Calligraphers Association. Major awards include: Silver and Bronze Medals from the Ministry of Culture's Qunxing Award; Outstanding Awards in the 2nd and 4th Television Calligraphy Competitions; Silver Medal from the World Chinese Art Exhibition. Selected exhibitions by the China Calligraphers Association include: the First Lanting Award Exhibition, the First World Chinese Calligraphy Exhibition, the First Global Chinese Calligraphy Exhibition, the 7th and 8th National Youth Calligraphy Exhibitions, the 7th and 8th National Calligraphy Exhibitions, the 2nd through 6th National Couplets Calligraphy Exhibitions, the 2nd Regular Script Exhibition, the 2nd Hundred Masters Exhibition, the Deng Xiaoping Centenary Exhibition, the Xizhi Cup Calligraphy Exhibition, the China Calligraphers Association's Thousand Artists, Thousand Works Exhibition, the China Calligraphers Association's Five Hundred Artists Exhibition, the Exhibition of Writing the Dao De Jing to Commemorate the 2581st Anniversary of Laozi's Birth, the Five Peak Mountain Exhibition of a Thousand Calligraphers Writing Sutras, the International Calligraphy and Seal Carving Exhibition by Calligraphy Guide, and many others. His calligraphy works have been featured in dozens of periodicals, including Calligraphy News, Calligraphy Guide, Youth Calligraphers Newspaper, Prosperous China, Art and Prosperity, and Children of the East. Numerous works have been collected by museums both domestically and internationally.
